I’m glad someone who flies regularly chimed in here, and honestly I have no problem with programs that help assure the safety of American citizens however I’m not convinced the TSA actually provides any measurable benefits. The shoe bomber was stopped because of a passenger, the guy who lit his groin on fire was stopped because of a passenger. Terrorists are making it through security checkpoints no problem, the best defense it seems is an informed and attentive populace. I will not concede my privacy rights to a program that provides no real benefits to me as a citizen.

September 11, 2001 changed everything. Sure, that statement is obvious, but necessary to our flight security, our human & personal rights and the conveniences travelers used to enjoy on September 10, 2001 and dates preceding. I fly on a frequent basis (at least 5 times a month) and i have learned to adjust to constantly changing security measures….wands, to metal detectors, bodyscanners to x-rays. Although I believe some of these measures might be a slight overreaction, without other less intrusive measures, the status quo might be the best solution.

Yeah, I was hoping to allude to that in the review. At the risk of using too many idioms, it is refreshing to hear Scientists interpretations of these tracks as seen through his remixes. It definitely puts an entirely fresh perspective on a handful of producers who’s style I have formulated my own expectations of, and not in a bad way. nnDefying expectations is always welcome :)

Thanks for the link back, I think criticism is actually pretty invaluable. The key for artists (and to avoid reflexively labeling people haters) being able to process it in a clear-headed and un-emotional way (as much as humanly possible).

First off, let me say I absolutely appreciate your candid responses and input here; my goal in writing an article such is this is to stop and make people think about the larger situation. Again, my apologies if you feel my comments were said in an attempt to relegate you to the realm of martyrdom. I did not make my post in an attempt to lure you here to defend yourself; instead the original (albeit incorrect) quote set the stage for something I have been wanting to write about here for a period of time, I just didn't feel I had the proper launchpad from which to do so. Additionally, I am grateful for the solidarity the internet provides in that we are easily allowed to engage in an exchange of ideas and opinions in the hopes of better understanding each other's intent.

Upon reading the following comments on The Skinny's website from Rosie McLean, and your comments here I believe that at the root of the issue you and I are coming from the same perspective and have the same end-result in mind when voicing our opinions and observations on the issue. I likewise find it disappointing at best that The Skinny will not amend the main body of their article to reflect the myriad errata presented within.

I will make an update to my original post to reflect the contextual bias of your quote in order to prevent any future misunderstandings resulting from future readings of my post.

I am disappointed to report that indeed the link still contains that turn of phrase. Either way the points you bring up are valid and my even if my role in this play of words is of villain I'd rather people speak on such important matters. In my belief gender is important, it is unavoidably part of the performers construct, but not necessarily reflected in their musical output. As well the reasons that there aren't more women in music is a difficult question and worth asking and fighting against whatever Boys Club has been constructed to keep them out. I am happy that Ikonika's fans are ardent and breath fire, those are good people to have in your corner! Being subjected to such vitriol stings (especially from such a mis-understanding) but it's heartening that largely instrumental music can be so impassioned.
